Africa Utopia 2016
Africa Utopia 2016 at the Southbank was a spectacular event we had the pleasure of showcasing our vibrant Ankara print fashion collection we popped our shop in a gorgeous airy space tall windows and wooden floors we had so much fun setting up our Ankara pop up shop.
We met returning customers and new customers happily shopping for African print fashion and jewellery at MamMaw.
Africa Utopia 2016 saw the launch of our new exclusive jewellery line inspired by Benin & Ghana, we used natural and recycled materials for our Jewellery items such as:
Fruit seeds
Polished stone
Raw glass
Recycled Plastic
Wood
Africa Utopia 2016 was truly a special event with a rich diverse range of performances and interactive workshops an more, attendees listened to the calming classical sounds of the Chineke orchestra, hear book reads by the author Leila Boulela reading excerpts from the book “The Kindness of Enemies” and learn African dance in a room full of novices moving thier body to the rhythmic beat
Maame Adjei who plays Zainab in the hit web series “An African City” described as Ghanaian Sex and the City, was at Africa Utopia as part of the panel for “Beyond the Prints” discussing contemporary African fashion.
And of course one of the main attractions the”Mandela Trilogy” with Cape Town Opera a 60 strong cast in an epic operatic tribute of the life of Nelson Mandela.
