EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC OF AFRICAN STREET STYLE FESTIVAL 2016
I attended the African Street Style Festival in Shoreditch on 24th July 2016 and felt so proud to see the Black British Experience articulated via fashion. The Ankara print designs were from the Soboye boutique and styled by Chi Chi Chinakwe. The fashion show left me feeling nostalgic and proud, remembering the African men and women who came to Britain from the Caribbean islands and the African continent. They made huge sacrifices to pave the way for me to be a Fashion designer today.
The day was a fun, friendly, and family-oriented festival. Unfortunately, I didn't get any good shots of the fashion show because it was jam-packed, but I did capture the overall vibe of the day. Take a look at my pics and let me know which one is your favourite by commenting below. If you attended the event, I would love to hear what you thought of the festival.
Attending the African Street Style Festival in 2016 was an incredible experience. It truly showcased the meaning of Black Excellence and African Heritage through fashion.
Stay Beautiful,
Shantel MamMaw.
